Our first time to visit Belize is coming up soon and we are sooooo excited. We have so many questions! Do we need the shots and anti-malarial meds recommended by the CDC(shots for typhoid, hep a, tetanus and flu, also malaria pills)? Also, is it safe to eat food from street venders? We are staying at The Palms. Anyone one know anythings about it?

You can get pretty much all of the info you need at this web site and message board. I would suggest to go into the search engine because you can pretty much find out anything you need to know. We are on AC in July. We did not get any shots because we are not going to the mainland and we are both in reasonalble health. I've only read or heard good things about the street vendors. I have packed imodian just in case. I've heard very good things about BC's BBQ for lunch on Sundays - but get there early or it's gone. I hope you havefun on your trip. When will you be there?
Time flys - have fun!

Thumbs up on the Palms. Good size rooms, clean and airy, great view and just a short walk to anywhere. Nice pool and a great staff.
Been there, done that, the washing machine ate the T-shirt

The Palms has AC's as well as fans. No CD players~people miss treat them and the sea air rots them way too fast. Sorry, but you can bring down your own to use. Don't need any shots if you're just on the Island. Wouldn't recommend "street food"(shacks), stick with the main restaurants or you'll have a plumbing problem. Lots of great places to eat here! The guest book has all the great places to eat listed as well as "cheap eats" too. Water is bottled and room water is fine for coffee. Let them know if you'd like a case of beer or soda's in your room upon arrival! Sorry,it's the x-manager in me.....:-)Have a great time!!!!

No worries about the CD players. Just wondering. Will find room in the suitcase to bring our own. Thanks. mobunny

Mobunny, we stayed in a top floor unit and a second floor unit. The top unit was central air, the second floor unit had a couple of window units. All in all, well air conditioned. Usually a good breeze on the upper floors. Never had a problem with the street food, nor the roaming vendors food.
