We thought that today would be a relaxing one. We had planned to discover North of the cut and take our time to become familiar with the rest of the island. Up and at it by 8 a.m. Quick breakfast and on our way through town. Caught the ferry along with two other golf carts and numerous bikes and pedestrians. A golf cart pulled right beside us with a couple and their son. Turns out it was Lana and Mark (Lola on the board) and their son Race. They had the right idea because their son was the designated driver and Mark was hugging the styrofoam ice chest full of Belikins on the back of the cart. We knew we would have fun with them.

The guy who works the ferry must lift weights regularly because he was able to pull us across without difficulty.

Immediately upon crossing, we saw Hammock House, but we were not expecting what we saw. Everyone told us this was a happening spot, but to see it, you would have thought that a hurricane had just passed. We had to keep moving. Lana and Mark flew past us hanging on to the ice chest. They were ready to get to the end of the island. As I gripped my chest with both hands, my husband tried to drive cautiously around the pot holes. I held on tightly. It was unbelievably rough. Not only was the road rough, but the air stunk. There was trash thrown along the road, and water was stagnant. Very disappointing. There were many houses along the way that were for rent, but it appeared as though they were vacant. In our opinion, the North was dirty, rough, and too secluded.

We decided to go straight to Captain Morgan's to check out the Temptation Island scene. Nothing special. Unfriendly bartender. Vacant pool. It looked like everyone was just checking it out, but no one was staying there. We walked along the beach to discover that they recently built a second pool and bar, but definitely nothing special. It did not compare to the scene at Victoria House.

It seemed like we had already traveled a couple of miles, so we decided to forego going any farther north. We headed south towards the cut and stopped at Palapa Bar for a quick drink. While there, we had an awesome Island Cruz. Never had this drink before, but made sure to tell future bartenders about it. While sitting there enjoying the sight, up walked our new friends, Mark and Lana! Of course, they had a drink or two while we were entertained by the bartender's magic tricks. Race was watching all of us act like teenagers while he remained responsible.

We began to get a little hungry and were ready to go eat lunch at Sweet Basil. At the golf carts, Mark was more than happy to offer a "roadie". We ultimately decided that he was offering us a drink for the road. However, we declined because we were only a short distance from Sweet Basil.

We were actually excited to go to Sweet Basil after having met Wayne earlier in the week. The bacon cheesburger was great. Carly and Wayne made sure that we were happy the entire stay. First class folks.

Anyway, we had previously talked to Wayne about going to a spa and he recommended going to Maruba on the mainland. In fact, while we were sitting at lunch, he offered and did make all of the arrangements for us to go to Maruba the following day. After lunch, we headed back to Victoria House to get ready for the evening activities. On the ferry back to to town, one of the locals drove onto the ferry with her baby stroller. As I ooooed and ahhhed at the 4 month old baby, she decided to pull her baby out of the stroller and hand her to me in my golf cart. I held the sweetest baby girl the entire way across the water. I was so ready to try to adopt this little girl, but I knew her mother was just being sweet to me. As we got off of the ferry, I handed the little girl back to her mother and wished them well. We were on our way back to VH.

We had to arrive at The Pier Lounge by 6:30 to place our bets on the Chicken Drop. Mark called it the "Chicken Shit Bingo". Whatever it was, we wanted to partake. We missed the first round, but made it there for subsequent rounds. While the chicken sat on number 84 (our number) for more than 5 minutes, we were cheering like wild men. Surprisingly, they threw another chicken in the ring to do the deed because our chicken would not shit. Anyway, we lost, but we drank!

We happened to meet up with Lana and Mark at The Pier Lounge unexpectedly. With them, it was like being on a comedy show because they kept us entertained. There was no delay, but we decided to eat at Jambel Jerk's with them. As we were seated, we happened to mention that Wayne and Carly of Sweet Basil's had told us to dine there. Within minutes, the men were given shots of bitters "liquid Viagra". Oh no!! Fortunately, my husband hated it and declined to drink it. Mark downed his! Dinner was good, but nothing was memorable about the food.

Since it was Wednesday, we knew that we had to save room and energy to go to Wet Willie's. When we arrived at 10 p.m., no one was there and our batteries were running on empty. We sat around for a little bit, but decided that the night life did not need us in it. We left the wild Lana and Mark at Wet Willie's to make all Southerners proud. (Well, I don't know if we were proud, but at least, they were there.)

We knew that we were being picked up at our dock bright and early the next morning to experience a great day spa. So, going home was only the prerequiste for a phenomenal day.

I'm jealous...we missed the Chicken Drop. Too tired! Funny thing about Wet Willie's Ladies night...they don't seem to crank up until around 11:00 pm.

Enjoying your reports!
