Has anyone stayed in the "veranda" rooms at BB? These are the regular rooms without the kitchen. I booked a package that comes with this category room and to upgrade to the 1br courtyard suite it would cost $31 extra per night. Is it worth it? Your opinions are appreciated. Thanks. Joey

Hey Joey, I can't address the veranda rooms, but I can say the the suites are great. When we were there in June, friends had a veranda room which they said was very nice and they liked it, but it didn't compare with our suite. It was also that their room layout was like that of a standard hotel room. The suite offers much more room and, if someone is an early riser (like my wife) or a night owl (like me), then there is much better accommodating - i.e., we don't bug each other. Though I must admit that I did become an early riser in AC - I didn't want to miss a moment! BB is a great place to stay. Have a wonderful vacation. Peter cool

Joey: I took two teens to BB as part of an air/hotel package in August. The veranda room had a single and a double and no room to turn around. They upgraded us for $16US/nite, plus $10/nite for the "extra" person. It's well worth it to upgrade.

For the money, the regular rooms in the new section are pretty nice -- everything spic n' span and new, A/C that really works, decent bedding and furnishings, cable TV, and in-room phones (fairly rare in Belize). My teenage kids stayed in the regular rooms in August and enjoyed it. But the suites are even nicer. And the seafront units are terrific. Just depends on your expectations and budget.
