I am looking at buying a condo on AC and am not sure how the financing goes. I am not one with 200K in the bank to give away and will need to finance it in some way. Anyone done this and could provide some tips? Also, we want a place to stay in a few weeks out of the year and rent the rest; what are the pros/cons of this and does anyone know of some places that have a good business reputation for this type of transaction?

I just bought one in the end of june.one needs to look around spend some time here to see ,what's hot and whats not.what you like..get a good person to help you I used chris at pelican properties ,e mail [email protected] or call him 011 501 6103119 he is very nice and was very!!! very helpful ..there are many that sell condo's pick a broker you feel comfortable with ,it is important ,do not rush into anything.... there a few good real estate people here go with one that you think will do the best job for you. they will be a big help..good luck on you quest..

As far as financing goes, you'll probably want to do that back home at your own bank. Problem is that US banks usually won't except the property in Belize as collateral. You will need to have other assets to back up the loan and then you can do it where you normally bank. Interest rates in Belize are usually extremely high.
As far as owning a condo, choose wisely and it's great. Choose poorly and it can become a major headache in your life. Take your time and check out the property thoroughly. Make sure you know the island and how things work there (or don't work). I'm happy to say that I chose wisely and have enjoyed every minute of my purchase. Others have lost everything. But that can occur anywhere.
