Can't help with the diving but can tell you that Banana Beach is terrific. I have been several times, the latest trip earlier this month, and it just keeps getting better.

easy easy, I have been there 4 times in 2 years and by far Amigo Del Mar is the best and most professional(not to mention fun!) dive shop. Tell Felipe Keli in Vegas says hello if you go with them, they are phenominal guides.

Amigos is very good and professional and I would dive with them anytime. They're also now quite large. There are others that offer a professional and very personal service, some a great deal closer to BB than ADM. Look at www.padi.com.

Remember though, close doesn't matter (P2's shop is closer). They pick you up at the hotel's (or, in BB's case, Mata Rocks'--right next door) pier.

Amigos is a class act. They'll rinse and store your gear for you at no charge as well. They're also the oldest, most experienced shop on AC as well as having the biggest boat.

Rumor has it some other shops may rent newer gear but, if you're like me and take your own anyway, that point's moot.

BB is an excellent property. Very clean, an attentive staff, on-site tour/dive booking through Monkey Business and one of the best restaurants on the island on-site.

There are others, but you can't go wrong with those choices.

Not going fishing, are you?

We were at BB for 2 weeks in Oct. Great place. You'll get a voucher for a free BB breakfast each morning or a discount on lunch. The travel shop there can book anything you want to do. As for eats - there are several places close by that we liked - Jade Garden, Tastes of Thailand, Casa Picasso (more expensive, but definitely worth it, ate there 2X) and Antojitos Santelmo (not sure about the spelling! It's very cheap, but good local food). For beer - the distributor will deliver by the case to your hotel (beer, water, coke, fanta). Or you can pick up there if you have a golf cart.

Have a great time - we would like to be there right now! laugh

I agree with Amigos Del Mar, been diving with Changa for 12yrs. They will pick you up right on your dock, clean & store your gear, all their guides are excellent. If there's more than one of you, he will match anyones price.
Great local dives, I would recomend you make one of the all day trips to one of the atolls.
The best one is the blue hole trip, the B.H. is a very deep 140' & short dive (12 min.) they also feed sharks on this dive (reef, bull head,& sometimes hammer heads)No nurse sharks, but you'll see plenty of those on your local dives.
After the B.H. dive You'll have lunch on beautiful Half Moon Caye, then make two world class dives on Light House Reef. These are both wall dives. You leave before sunup & return just before sunset. If you like nite dives, dive Hol Chan, the best nite dive you'll ever make.
Have a great trip!!!
