WELL IT'S NOT MARDI GRAS CUZ IT'S BELIZE. IT IS HOWEVER A GREAT TIME TO CELEBRATE. TRY TO STAY AN EXTRA DAY AND ENJOY WHAT THE LOCAL PEOPLE CAN SHOW YOU. I CAN TELL YOU THAT MY FIRST TRY WAS ONE OF THE MORE MONUMNETAL OF MY TRIPS TO THE ISLAND-ENJOY

Carnival is great fun on AC! Not much of anything for the remainder of Belize.

Everyone gets painted!! The kids start on Sunday. The adults wait until Tuesday.

Talk about "painting the town".

Roving groups of people cover eachother in paint. Holiday hotel is a good spot to observe. If you are in the downtown area, it's a good chance you will get painted. Raw eggs are also thrown at folks and lots of drinking is going on, alcohol that is, not paint. Although some are caught confusing the two liquids after it is too late.

Festivities start around sundown.
