Most of the Brits have left Ambergris caye. Reason being the flooding on the mainland and Caye Caulker needs help. The Belize Defense Force are now in charge (God help us). The Colonel of the Brits that I spoke to was in disbelief at the corruption and the troops have been giving their own daily rations to the poor people who are not being helped by the town board. The Belizeans are not allowing the Brits to distribute the supplies in an impartial manner. So the Brits are still there, but their hands are tied. So sad...
Note: This has been rigorously denied by several on the island

Whitey, Sorry i don't have Chris's email address (by the way, it's HE). Can't think of anybody else right now to help.

Good luck. Take care girl.

Katherine, email me at i have that email address but i don't want to post it yet.

And i'm not sure he has time to run errands yet either, I'm trying to hire a couple teenagers or someone to read the board and run and check on things, but so far I haven't been able to arrange it.

I would like to add that there is HUGE disagreement about this statement on how the food is being distributed by the town board.

There are two teenagers (brothers) that will probably do this running around for you. They are Chris and Erik Burnette, Barefoot Skinny's nephews. They have an apartment with their parents at the Iguana Gardens. They also have bicycles and are extremely computer literate.

If someone could send for them in your behalf, I'm positive that they would help, since their families are safe, high and dry. They both have been volunteering non stop on the south side.

any idea how to get ahold of them?

and if they are working to help people, i don't want to take them away. but if they got a break, or it quieted down a tad, I sure would like to put em to work

I just mailed to Julian, the town board (if they are up yet), Milo, Coconet, trying to get ahold of these fellows...

I have been dealing with people in Belize all my life; my mother's family is from there and lives both on the mainland and the island. It would not surprise me if the town board is lining thier pockets with funds and relief money and hoarding food in order to profit from any under the table selling of same. The Brit Col's obsevation of the corruptness and graft is accurate

Hey Tammy!
Listen, when you get a chance(and I know you're busy), send me an email with the real-deal as to food, water, rain, shelter, etc...I just wanna know the truth, Ruth. If there's something I can do from afar, tell me. I'm not rich, but I'm dry and (fairly) comfy at home here in Sin-City...a far cry from what you guys are going through down there in(uh, yeah right!) paradise!!! I just want to make sure you guys are able to at least function...sorry, can't help you with the 'skeeters!!!
