Hello all. Coming to Belize for the first time in May. Staying in AC for a week then inland. Right now we are booked for Maruba Spa. Anyone ever stay there or have any thoughts? We here nice things about Jaguar and Chaa Creek. Should we change reservations. Let me know ASAP. Thank you so much. Also, how are the mosquitos as Maruba compared with the other places?
Thanks a bundle.

We stayed at Maruba at the end of our month long visit to Belize 5-6 years ago. We spent 1.5 weeks on Glover's reef diving to our hearts content, a week at Ian Anderson's Jungle Lodge and then finished up at Maruba. Maruba's creature comforts were a wonderful way to end the trip. We were impressed by the food and the service level. We didn't leave the grounds much (a trip to a couple of ruins) but that's about it. It really depends on what you are looking for, if you like the spa experience, its fantastic. If you are looking for a wilderness experience, I suspect there are other better options. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip to this wonderful spot and do reccommend the couple's mood mud massage. Happy to answer specific questions if you like.

Oh yes the spa, what a wonderful thing. Almost a massage in the wilderness but with just enough building to give some privacy. Look forward to another one some day.

Hi stugatz! I only stayed on AC and visited the mainland. Check with your doctor, but I did not use maleria medication, only bug spray on my ankles at sundown. Maruba is fairly close to the ocean so it's your call.Have fun!
