Does the barge still dock on the front beach close to Caribbean Villas? When we were there last summer, the barge docked there and churned up the water for three or four days. The water all along the beach was murky for a good ways out and it totally ruined the snorkeling. We were staying at CV and would have liked to snorkle at the end of their pier, but you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. The barge handled construction material and supplies for resale on SP. This made for a busy area on the beach also. We are coming in June and will not stay close to this area if this barge still comes in there. Anyone know?

iirc, the new dock in the lagoon is built and the dredging is done. But there's no way to force user's to the new dock. Gotta love it :p

I'm sure the locals on the board will have the latest news.

So, has anyone purchased any of the condos they built directly in front of the barge? I heard a few stories about if the barge didn't move what the builder would do or not but now it sounds like this barge dock is just used in order to have 2 commercial barge docking spaces. What do you guys think?

The dock back in the lagoon is huge and modern. I'd say 600' with lights...

All barges are still in the same place. Their docking fees will go from free or $50/barge to $500/barge, so there are many reasons they find not to move. One day, it will happen, but it may not be in my lifetime.
