Hey everybody,
We are trying to put together a tackle box of gear to bring over there....any suggestions?? As suggested on this bulletin board, we bought ultra light rods and reels and are going to use 6 to 8 pound test line. But what kind of lures are the fish going for? We are staying at Belizean Shores, so I guess we will be fishing off of thier dock, among any other places that we find.... Any suggestions whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

...lot of fishing done with cut bait, sardines. No tackle box complete without my book..."Excuses for not catching any fish". PS. it might be good to bring a medium strength rod and reel with maybe 10-15 test to provide some latitude for bigger fish. These saltwater fish fight stronger than fresh water fish.

Gone fishing!!

Check out this site:

It has a nice list of equipment for both fly and spin. I didn't have much luck from Belizean Shore's dock, but did find a spot just north of the dock that holds fish. Walk about 50 yards north up the beach, about 15 yards out it drops off, there use to be a post sticking up, but don't know if it's still there? Got a couple nice barracuda at that stick. Remember to use wire leader. If you get a chance go out with a local guide, it's well worth it.

Stephda: Where are you from and what kind of fish are you'all use to? Tell us that and you may have "stuff" to load your box with.

Take your beam and crappie, even bass stuff for bonefish(which you'll not be eating) and for snappers. Small jigs in light/brite/shiny colors and with hooks that aren't fine wire. Your gear for fla. should do for larger stuff up to 15# of so. Bigger jigs, minnow baits, crank baits etc. A bunch of hooks and weights and he'll do fine.

Yo krehfish......you be da bomb!!! Thanks so much for the info shocked ) Are bonefish just good fightin' fish?? Is that why people fish for them so much? I know in the Bahamas, people go bonefishing alot..if they aren't good fighters and you can't eat them, what's the point?
