Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and have enjoyed all the useful information posted by users. Thank you for that. My husband and I will be staying on Ambergris Caye March 16-23rd (Mayan Princess). On a previous trip to Tahiti and Moorea, I participated in a forum similar to this one for a few weeks before departing. Suggestions were made that many things are hard to come by in Tahiti (because it's so remote from any mainland) and bringing small gifts as a goodwill gesture for your hosts (or local children) were always appreciated. We brought some locally brewed beer, kites, air mattresses, candy, etc. I realize that Belize is not Tahiti, but wondered what is customary or acceptable to Belizeans. We always have extra room in our suitcase-but don’t want to offend-just show our appreciation. I read about the Humane Society wish list-but also wondered about the locals. Any suggestions? Thanks again for the helpful posts! Hope to see some of you in March-Ellen

While we were on Ambergris Caye we met a man named Floyd Jackson who runs a free music school and is looking for donations of sheet music, instruments, & recordings appropriate for children (they'd love a recording of Peter and the Wolf). You can e-mail him at freemusicschoolbelize@yahoo.com, or call at 601-4414. Tell him that Liz & Michael from Portland sent you.
