Hello everyone. I have enjoyed reading all the posts. My family and I are returning to the AC in July for a much needed vacation. We were there in 2000 and enjoyed our stay tremendously. I was just wondering how much the island has grown in the past 5 years. We enjoyed the fact that it was still a small non-commercialized place that offered a great deal of activities for the entire family. We stayed far south back then (Caribe Island) and are staying farther north this trip (white sands cove). Any info on how the island has changed would be very appreciated. Also, I was wondering if the "traffic" was as bad as some posts have lead me to believe. Thanks for all the info and am having a hard time waiting til July. See you then.

Traffic is bad compared to what it was, but still a far cry from real traffic. We are growing fast, but still haven't yet lost all of the small island feeling.

We were in San Pedro Jan 29-Feb 13 this year. We stayed at the Blue Tang Inn. It really isn't that bad. Everything is relative. To us, the traffic wasn't bad at all. Maybe a few more taxis and trucks, but nothing like we are used to. And part of the time we walked on the beach to get where we were going. You still can't beat the great food, the smiling and friendly people, lots of things are still the same!! Go, enjoy and be happy!!

Man, I'm sorry we are going to miss the "other" crazy Texans. We will be there at the end of July. We are from the San Antonio area (Seguin). Home of the world's largest concrete pecan. I actually think some other city has a bigger one now, but we still claim the honors.

See, sometimes we locals accuse the San Pedro Town Board of silly spending of town funds, but they haven't built the worlds largest concrete pecan, now have they?
My dad lives in SA, I will have to add this to my list of sites to see next visit.

Just had a thought:
What happens when a giant concrete squirrel attacks your town, ala Godzilla...Just something to think about, ya know..it won't be like your City Council wasn't just asking for it. smile

So what is the weather like in July? We have alway been winter visitors but have kids that want to come in July. Is the Pica pica bad at that time of year? Thanks in advance for the info.

Luckily the world's largest squirrel is miles away from that giant nut. So I think they will be safe.
