Six of us just returned from San Pedro. I didn't think I would be as interested in the message board, but after having been there I thought I would check it out and see what was going on. Scared me a little that a plane crashed the day after we left, and even though I don't even remember where Caribe Island Resort is I feel bad that there seems to be such discord in a place that made me so happy and gave me such an amazing experience. I have tried to figure out in my mind what made my trip to San Pedro so great. I've been to terrific places before, but the casual feeling I had there gave me more peace. I think maybe it was the people. We didn't have that much interaction with Americans. We mostly dealt with the people from San Pedro. They were kind, courteous, and very smart. The part I loved best was it seemed like they got me. And what I mean by that was my lousy jokes, goofy attitude, etc. Thanks especially to Luis Caliz, Alphonse, Jorje(?), Clem, Pete, Captain Bicho & son, Romeo, Sergio, all the people at Banana Beach, including Monkey Business, the shop owners, and all the hitchhikers we picked up. Their points of view were very much appreciated. I know how it feels to have outsiders come and change what we already think is perfect. I won't be moving to Ambergris, but there's a part of me that will always wish I'd been born there. Good luck in keeping your paradise in as good of order as possible.
