Although my wife and I looking forward to our introduction to Belikin, there is a point in the day where we are beer'ed out (oh the horror) and would like some wine. We have had a hard time finding decent wine in places like Playa del Carmen and Huatulco and I think I read somewhere on here that there isn't much of a selection in SP. Anyone know how much we can legally bring? Thanks.

As with the grocery shopping question you can check out our order form for an idea of what wines are available in SP (there are more but this will give you an idea). http://www.lagniappe-belize.com/order.htm

Everyday brings more and more interesting products to the shelves, both local and imported.

Buy down here and save weight on your luggage (all you really need is a carry on.)

The wine in SP is expensive. I was surprized to see Carlos Rosini(yuk) in the big jug that sells for like $6US in the states for about $30-40US in AC. You can bring 1.5 litters of alcohol each, legally. I didn't see any California wines there, my preference.
There is a wine shop, I foget the name, it was rather pricey as well.

Time flys - have fun!

The wine shop is Wine Devine, just north of the airport. I did not find them expensive, we had some very good Chilean wines that cost about $10-$12 same as they do in the US.

For the really enthusiastic/collector, some of Wine De Vine's top end Italians are a better deal than you will find in the states or UK, I just added a nice selection of 92+ rated reds and whites to my list. I did a fair amount of research, some wines, like the Antinori Solaia 2001, are better priced(wholesale...)at Wine De Vine than anywhere I could find on the net.

From the research I've done the legal limit for liquor is 1 liter per person but I'm not sure on wine. We brought over a whole case of wine last July & never were questioned. We just put it in a small carry on & brought in on the plane.

I don't know how much you can legally bring, but I am a huge wine fan myself (lived in Napa Valley for many years). I always bring a few bottles down with me and no one has ever said anything. I bring my tequila along too.

Its great to sit out on your deck in your hotel room with a good bottle of vino before heading out in the evening!

Dallas Dave, Yes I am. Gay and David, no offense taken. austin - where the women are women and the men are too. My wife and I both work in austin. We are looking forward to Caye Caulker and AC, only a month away. This will be the first non-Mexico trip. Thanks for all the info on wine. I plan on having my share of Belikin but I do like a glass of wine (or two...) of an evening. Happy Easter everyone.
