We are traveling to Belize in July for 9 days.
Four nts. in Cayo and four nts. on Ambergris. We are winging it, as far as, reservations. Is there someplace to leave our luggage while we walk around and look for a room?

You are welcome to drop it off at the Chamber of Commerce. Located at The BoatYard, which is about a block from Maya Air Terminal.

Leave your bags at whichever air service that brings you.... just tell them what you're doing. No problem.

Jesse's right. Your bags will be o.k. as long as they know what you are doing. This could be easier than you think. For example, the Sunbreeze is a highly regarded property with large rooms not 20 yards from the Tropic SP "terminal". July is low season and for the most part the rates are quite good with most properties throughout the island. Negotiate a bit, even in advance on-line or via phone, one less concern, more time for fun.
