We are two divers looking for a reasonably priced hotel/resort for two weeks. What area should be our first priority. Close to San Pedro, north, south???? Not interested in the bar scene or night life. Just good food, great diving and small dive boats. (No cattle boats for us). Any and all suggestions. Thank you..

First question, what do you consider "reasonably priced"?

Second question, if you are not interested in the bar scene or the nightlife, wouldn't you be happier at a dedicated dive resort? Perhaps Gaz's Playa Blanca Dive Resort or one of the resorts out at the Atolls?

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

There are lots of reasonably priced places to pick from. I think you have to figure out what part of town you want to be in. If you don't want to rent a golf cart then you could pick from SunBreeze, Paradise Villas, Blue Tang, Ramons, and others that are walking distance to everything. They are close enough to town but not in the business part.

All the dive operators will pick you up at your hotel at the nearest pier... i personally prefer Amigos del Mar, an excellent group that takes great care of you before during and after the dive...very capable. also if the local scene is not too important Banana beach resort and Mata rocks resort, which are next to each other 1.4 miles south of the city center park both have nice pools, beaches, and good value for the dollar..mata rocks has free bikes to use also, although there rooms are not as large as B.B. john in denver

Consider the Tides Beach Resort and dive shop run by Patojo. This hotel and dive shop cater to divers. Smaller groups. Still close to town. On the beach. Just another possibility. Have a great trip!!

Thank you to everyone who posted suggestions. I'm looking for information on the Tides. I found Mata Rocks and to the north Playa Blanca. Will be booking Monday 2/4/05
