I just spoke to Nellie Gomez in San Pedro (her phone is now working).
She reports that a large stretch of Barrier Reef Drive now has electrical power, but most of the rest of town does not. (We don't have electric power yet at Paradise Villas, which is on the beachfront between Rocks and the Paradise Hotel; and Nellie does not have electric power in her house on Middle Street.)
Crews are working hard to expand the return of power but it will take some time, she does now know how long. It is a slow process.

Coral Bay Villas has phone service as of last night. Communication is a good thing....

I overheard a conversation Tuesday by utility personnel indicating power should be in place for most of the island by the endof October. To me, that is very, very hard to believe. As to phones, the phone service that is installed seems sporadic at best. Some of the business which have phones cannot even call to Belize City. Celluar service is also poor and only on some of the roofs is access possible. People are working EXTREMELY hard to put things in place, but don't expect miracles quite yet.
