BB rocks - staff will treat ya great and is hardly a Motel 6 or CI. Book the beachfront suites. Small beach area, cleaned daily, with seawall. Located adjacent to, IMHO, the best swimming on island.

Utilize the "search" feature = lots of happy campers (make that beachers)

Bronx Girl, Mata Rocks is very cool...having stayed there twice. They give you free bikes to use which is very nice, and we used them daily to go back and forth to town. They have a great beach bar and a nice if small pool and a lovely beach. They are also next to Banana Beach which is a fab place to stay and is excellent to eat al fresco having great eggs benedict, omelets, pancakes, fruit plates and much more. you really can't go wrong with either place....i love 'em both john in denver

Bronx girl, You miss the point, the prices at most places are all about the same, it all boils down to having a good time,,, and you can do that anywhere in san pedro. if you want a bigger room, go to banana beach, if a smaller room and some added features like free bikes are nice, do mata rocks, but you will find that drink prices are about the same all over, and if you worry too much about that, then you will ruin your vacation over the small stuff. live life, have fun, enjoy belize for what it one is going to rip you off,,trust me i have been here 11 times in four years and it just gets better each time.

2 for 1 happy hour at Mata Rocks from 6-7PM. There are several small restaurants or take out places close to MR. Both places are very nice with BB being much larger with more variety of rooms & suites, and more full service. MR is small and intimate. Both basically on the same beach, which is nice.

When I looked at BB I was able to get Downstairs Non- OCEAN View ROOM for $99/night $140 for Oceanview. At Mata they have Oceanview Balcony Rooms for $100/night including taxes. THe BB website pix makes it look like a motel 6.
I can always eat Dinner at BB . What else is around there??

WOW!! I almost missed an opportunity to reccommend the best (IMHO)resort on the island....The staff will make you feel at home.....The beach bar is fabulous, Happy hour is alway crowded & such a "blast"...As said before prices are pretty much the same all over the island....Go, enjoy & tell everyone hello from the crazy Texan..... laugh :p

Banyan Bay is close by and has full svc restaurant & bar. Several condo type complexes next door. Some little bodega stores. Some private housing. Not sure what you are looking for....
Some people don't like the look of BB but it is one of the best run hotels on the island. Looks nicer when you are there - hard to get good pics of it due to the way it's set up with the courtyard and all.

Check out my photos. I know I have lots of BB (Mata Rocks too - some are from before the full renovation).
