Conditions at duPlooy's - 10/05/00 10:03 PM

DuPlooy's sits right on the Macal River, and have heard that the rivers are rising at a rapid pace. Is the duPlooy's complex high enough up that it would escape any flooding?

Yes, duPlooy's is on the Macal River, but as I recall the lowest parts of the actual facility, the bar and deck/walk, are maybe 50 or 75 feet or even more above the river. The lodge isn't in any danger.

Only lodges I can think of that might be in danger of flooding if the rivers got really high would be some places on the Mopan, maybe Mopan River Resort or Clarissa Falls, places like that.

I believe everything is okay at Duplooy's...
Our delivery truck just left with supplies for there operation. I also had lunch with some friends at Sanny's and bumped into Judy and Ken....water was extemely high but they were still....HIGHER!
We were spared in Cayo once again

If you bump into Judy and Ken again, tell them that Mark with The Nature Conservancy from Texas tells them hello, and that we're thinking of them.
