I got the opportunity (as I mentioned in another post) to visit the new Lodge at Big Falls. It is ideal for bird watchers or anyone looking to get away. It is really nice and very peaceful, hidden behind the village and along side the river. It is pretty far back from the highway also. If you have never been down south to Toledo and are considering going might I suggest that you also try the Coleman's Cafe for a meal...eventhough the lodge offers meals...I am hoping the locals dont lose buisness. Try bathing in the river under the bridge too!

There are pictures of the lodge on the net http://www.thelodgeatbigfalls.com.
There are also seats in the showers...hehhee!

THANKS Sarah!
Well it was early when I went so there was one couple waiting for a packed lunch to head out for the day and gradually I met others rising so I am not sure how many people where actually there. I didnt think anyone was there until I saw a pile of hiking boots.
I met the owner when I was in Belize City for the trade show last week. Seems like a very nice place. I didn't get down to check it out but my rep in Belize is going to. I will report back when he gives me the details.

Here's the link again to the the pics of the lodge and surrounding area.
I am still trying to locate the pic of the Coleman's Cafe from the outside. The Coleman's are the local family that run a restaurant that I hope people will visit if they do make it to the logde. Also the pic of me in a bed is not at the lodge that is at the other locally run guest house- the Aleman's.
Nice mainland views. Thanks for sharing. smile
Nice job Sarah! Going back soon?

(Uncle Sam delivered the goods yesterday, thanks again! ) laugh
Yes I am almost embarassed to say it...I am going back on May 20th to work with some doctors in a group called Project Belize. No summer camp this year, although I have made video tapes of what it looks like here near DC for the kids to see (requested by the principal) at the school and am tape recording a new recorder (flute) lesson for the advanced return music students.
