Goff's Caye cleaned up - 09/21/04 03:19 PM

The Coastal Zone Management Authority along with a clean up crew comprising students from St. Catherine's high school, St. John's College and teachers from Belize Elementary school this weekend participated in a clean up of Goff's Caye. As we reported last week the island sustained major damage as a consequence of hurricane Ivan, which never made it within 100 miles of Belize. As a consequence of the contrary currents and winds that Ivan generated, the beach was left covered with coral debris. But thanks to the work of the environmentally minded volunteers, the caye is now completely clean of the debris and the material collected will serve as data for the CZMA's records on the island.

First class work!

Here in the the USA, they would still be forming committees to see about appointing a committee to look in to getting someone to head a committee to find the funds to start a committee to see what can be done to take care of the mess, making sure all the committees get the proper brownie points for their participation and if possible to find a way to blame the whole mess on the Republicans.
