It is predicted to be the premier small business development center in the north, providing business support services, training and technical assistance to micro and small entrepreneurs. On Saturday, the Small Scale Enterprise Development and Training Center (SSEDAT Center) and Marketing Facility was inaugurated at the La Inmaculada Credit Union Limited's (LICU) parking lot in Orange Walk. The training center and the marketing facility were both constructed as part of the LICU-Small Scale Enterprise Development in Agriculture and Tourism Project II (SSEDAT II), a development project funded by the European Union under the Accompanying Measures for Sugar (AMS) Program and LICU in collaboration with the Government of Belize. The SSEDAT Center will be made available to local entrepreneurs to retail their enhanced products and services. Among those present at Saturday's ceremony were LICU's President, Amory Jacobs, and Kevin Bernard and the Mayor of Orange Walk Town. The keynote address was delivered by the Honorable Gaspar Vega, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Agriculture. The total value of the SSEDAT Center and the marketing facility is BZ $405,700. The center is the second phase of the SEDDAT 2 Project. The first provided grants to eight groups of micro small enterprises.
