The Ministry of Health, along with the Embassy of Mexico in Belize and the Department of Health of Quintana Roo, Mexico is hosting a two day Health Fair in Corozal Town on 28th and 29th November, 2008 under the theme "Eat Healthy, Exercise, Live Longer".

The objective of the Health Fair is to sensitize the population of Corozal Town and its surrounding areas on the importance of a healthy lifestyle for the prevention of diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, HIV infection, cervical cancer, etc. This event is within the context of promoting the wellness approach.

The Department of Health of the Mexican State of Quintana Roo will provide a mobile health clinic with optical, dental, and medical equipment. Mexican doctors and nurses along with Belizean counterparts will be delivering free medical services, including vaccinations, HIV testing, pap smears, dental services, eye examinations, and general medical consultations. Medications, condoms, and lenses will also be donated.

The Mexican contingency will consist of 35 persons including technicians and medical professionals.

Local organizations will also be participating in the fair including the Belize Red Cross, Belize Family Life Association and the Belize Council for the Visually Impaired.

The Belize-Mexico Health Fair is being held at the Civic Center in Corozal Town from 9:00 am to 4:00pm for both days. The Government of Mexico will also sponsor a photographic exhibition on the history of the Belize-Mexico Health Cooperation Programme.
