The Corozal Town Council has supported a new business investment plan for the public area known as "Jamrock", following a public tender process which openly advertised the space for LEASE.

TWO business proposals meeting the complete criteria were submitted to the Council by the given deadline of Friday, March 18th, 2022. Of these two, the Council has selected the restaurant proposal submitted by Belizean businessman, Mr. George Greenwood, proprietor of Taribo Industries.

In Mr. Greenwood's proposal, significant renovations to the existing structure and extensive improvements to the surrounding area will be carried out, to enhance public enjoyment. The proposal also has a medium-term plan for coastal rehabilitation and improvement, which is aligned with the Council's hopes to restore our water-front to support environmental sustainability and improve the municipality's tourism potential.

The business proposal by Mr. Greenwood will undergo a rigorous review process by all relevant Government agencies including the Department of Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources, and Port Authority before it is finalised and given final approval.

Mayor Rigo Vellos and the Council will continue to support the strategic development of our town's business and sustainable tourism sector to bring about employment and economic opportunity, while striking a balance to protect and conserve our environment.
