Cabinet Plans Retreat to Caye Chapel with Tony Quinn

Picture it: Ralph Fonseca, Mark Espat, Godfrey Smith, John Briceno, Vildo Marin and all other Cabinet members wearing shorts and tank tops, lathered in sun-block, some in sombreros, all holding hands on a wind-swept beachfront and singing "kumbaya" as waves gently lap, and palm trees sway in the background. Sounds outlandish, but that's the image that comes to mind with today's news that Cabinet is going on a one week retreat at Caye Chapel.

The weekly government brief states that from October second to the eighth, Cabinet will gather on the private island to take stock and pave the way forward. And to get in the mood for massive change, they will be regaled by an internationally renowned motivational speaker Tony Quinn.

Quinn is the high-priced lifestyle guru for Belize Natural Energy directors Susan Morrice and Sheila McCaffrey. Touted in international media reports as his star students, they credit him with giving them the resolve that led to the first commercial oil discovery in Belize. His educo institute "mind power seminars" are typically held in two week sessions in the Bahamas and can reportedly cost as much as US$23,000.

But of course, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat is one thing and finding oil is another. But that aside, Quinn's teachings are centered around the belief that his students can will things to happen by believing in them strongly enough. Now presumably, the 60-year-old Irishman will use his mind technology mantras to bring together a cabinet riven by rivalry and rancor.

According to today's Cabinet brief, they will formulate what is called Belize's first long-term strategic development framework: the grandly titled: vision 2025.

The trip is for seven days and six nights and it'll be interesting to hear, who gets to room with whom.
How much does it cost to have Quinn "program" the cabinet to the "people's" way of thinking??
quite a bit i'd imagine

What a novel concept! When OUR country in broke, lets spend some more money on US at
CAYE CHAPEL. I guess they didn't know about Cayo Espanto or Anthony Robins.
Yeah, and now that they have put the country in economic ruin they are going to form "Belize's first long-term Strategic Development Framework"

What a disgrace. mad

PS: I think I just figured out what "Belize's first long-term Strategic Development Framework" means in plain language ie. How much longer can we stick around and how much more can we steal before we need to leave for the countries where we stashed our ill gotten gains.
Quinn must have a lower handicap than Robbins!

The only hope is they bash each other with nine irons mid meeting!
