The Prime Minister of Belize, Honourable Dean Barrow left the country today for St. Kitts and Nevis where he's expected to attend the inauguration of the newly appointed President of the Caribbean Court of Justice. The new head of the CCJ, Sir Dennis Byron is from St. Kitts, and was appointed as the new President of the Court during a recent meeting of CARICOM Heads of State held in Grenada. Since 1982, Sir Byron has had a distinguished career both in private practice and as a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. Sir Byron also served as the Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Grenada and presided over the longest criminal trial in Caribbean history, the murder trial of that country's former Prime Minister Maurice Bishop. The Prime Minister returns home on Sunday, September 4th. During his absence, Deputy Prime Minister, Honorable Gaspar Vega will act as Prime Minister.
