Shooting on San Pedro leaves one injured

A San Pedro resident is hospitalized after he was shot inside a club on the island. San Pedro Correspondent, Jorge Aldana, has the story.

Jorge Aldana, San Pedro Correspondent: San Pedro Police are investigating a shooting incident that left a male bartender in a critical but stable condition. According to police sometime around this morning 45 year old Glenford Alex Dominguez also known as Glenford Bodden was inside the Daddy Rocks Night Club situated adjacent to the San Pedro Central Park on Barrier Reef Drive. Dominquez told police that while socializing inside the club he was approached by an individual known to him as Javier Romero. Police say that the 34 year old Romero, a laborer of San Marcos area approached Dominguez to confront him about an ongoing misunderstanding with one of Romero’s brother. At that point Dominguez tired to avoid the confrontation and moved away. Dominguez told police that Romero followed him at which point he pushed Romero.

Police say that Romero then pulled out his licensed Smith and Weson .38 pistol pointed it to Dominguez’s direction and fired a single shot. As a result Dominguez was hit to the left upper shoulder and was rushed to the Dr.Otto Rodriguez San Pedro Polyclinic 2 for medical attention and was later transferred to the KHMH where he is undergoing treatment. San Pedro police say that they have detained Romero and are expecting to charge him sometime this week. In addition police who were at the club working special duties recovered the pistol used in the shooting. But the shooting inside the club has now raised serious concerns especially because it is not the first time that an incident of a grave nature has occurred inside Daddy Rock Nightclub. One such concern that has surfaced is that it is unclear how Romero was allowed clearance to enter the club with a firearm. Another concern is whether or not the establishment will face any disciplinary measures from the police or the liquor license board. It is important to note that on the 26th of January 2013 25 year old Byron Estap Estradaa was stabbed to death 22 times inside Daddy Rock’s Nightclub.
