Any hints besides the obvious consolidators? Hoping flights for May travel from ATL will drop- perhaps not as low as that deal from Mobile for $163.00 but right now hard-pressed to find anything >$450 RT... suggestions welcomed!
Just booked on continental $278 RT. Good for March and April
Always looking for decent airfare...what are the names/URL;s of some of these obvious consolidators ?
Thanks.
I love the airlines. They're a constant source of amazing and entertaining mysteries.
From my neck of the woods, it's generally around 800 USbucks per butt. But I get a lot of frequent flyer miles so that's what we usually use. Booked five seats about a month ago and paid the painful price of 70k points each for coach. The 35k seats are *never, ever* available. Added an additional traveler yesterday for 65k...in first class. The ticketing agent could get us another seat in coach for the original 70k, if we preferred it. No, really. She told me that.
I tried to get her to explain how it was possible to use less points for a f/c seat than a coach seat and she was happy to. "Because that's what we have," she said.
"No, really. This doesn't make sense, does it? How about you credit me 25k points for the other five tickets and put us all in f/c?" I offered.
"Because that's not what we have," she said.
"Does this make sense to you?" I asked.
"Not really," she answered.
"So why can't I just have the 25k points back, you leave us in coach and we call it even?"
"Because that's not what we do."
After a while, I just gave up. It was easier that way.
Sahib, consolidators like sidestep.com, cheaptickets.com, etc. Google "air fare consolidators".
At any rate, methinks it's a bit early for May fares to be on sale... I'll keep lookin'.
Sales only thru 28 April at the moment.
Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, Hotwire...there are many discount consolidators.
Catatonic - too true. And every time you call back you get a different answer....
