In the 26 February 2009 edition of the San Pedro Sun, the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association has an advertisement announcing a new schedule effective 1 March 2009, and a joining of services with Triple J Water Taxi.

Don't know if the schedules on their website have been updated.

In the same issue of the Sun, there was another advertisement regarding another water taxi service, SAN PEDRO BELIZE EXPRESS WATER TAXI. This ad, with schedules, can viewed after downloading the pdf version of the paper from the newspaper's website.

There's also a web site for San Pedro - Belize Express water taxi service, which includes both the San Pedro-Belize City and San Pedro-Corozal Town trips: http://www.sanpedrowatertaxi.com/files/schedule.html

I'm just curious, what is the "best" water taxi service for coming with a good amount of luggage on? I'm coming for my wedding in May and we've opted for the water taxi route to save some money, but have no idea how to pick a company. Thanks in advance for any help.

If you are brining a wedding dress and other important irreplaceable items, you should probably fly. The water taxi often gets very wet.

If you decide that you still want to use the water taxi, our experience with San Pedro Belize Express was great. None of our luggage was wet. The hardest part was the time -- 1 hr, 15 min. Next time we come to AC, we will fly in from the airport.

I have to agree while I can appreciate you wanting to save money - flying in is definitly the way to go if you can squeeze it into your budget.

Much easier than schlepping luggage to water taxi and the flight is so quick compared to the boat.

Well we were going to fly into San Pedro and now looking at other options. Unfortunately with 3 weeks to go before we arrive in San Pedro, pay cuts have been handed out at the 9-5! UGH!

What is the cost of the taxi from Belize International to the Water Taxi's?

Is the price difference from the above water taxis really that much? I see San Pedro Express is $20 roundtrip each and Cay Caulker is $40 each!

Just trying to figure this out while I still have time to play with it..lol

This board has been such a wealth of information and leaves me stoked every time I come see what's new!!

Thanks ~ Kat

The Caye Caulker Water Taxi Assoc. prices are in Belize dollars, and San Pedro Express is in U.S. dollars, so the prices are actually the same.

Taxi from the international airport to the water taxis is US$25.

Last time I took a taxi from international to Municipal they charged me $50 US and the same when I went from International into town. 50 US. I even went out and asked another taxi guy and he said 50 and I said US or BZ he said US.
that was in Feb. 09. AM I getting ripped off?

I got that rate from one driver then went to the other end of the taxi area and another told me 50 US too.

this is a thread I am interested in too. (flying to Belize in 10 days). I really dont want to spend the extra 1,5 hours if the price difference is not going to be significant - especially if the taxis started to ask for 50 bucks to take you to the ferry.

if we share taxi 5 way, one way cost will be $10+$20/head to san pedro from the airport. tropic air charges $60 one way, right? ... hmmm... decisions, decisions... It would be great if TropicAir (or Maya air) did group discounts (there will be 7 of us), or promotions.

The taxi fare from PGIA to Belize City is BZ$50 (US$25). That's per taxi, not per person.

The fares & schedules for the flights are on their websites:
