- Press Release, Belize Audubon Society, Belize City, February 18, 2010 - The Belize Audubon Society announces the opening of the Victoria Peak Trail for 2010 which runs from February to end of May each year.

With the opening this year, BAS also announces the second Victoria Peak Challenge! Are you ready to experience nature in a whole new way? Immerse yourself in the jungles of the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary on your way to climbing the Victoria Peak Natural Monument! Learn about BAS and our conservation efforts in taking care of these two protected areas. All interested hikers who want such a challenge---this is your opportunity! Those interested are encouraged to form their groups with family or friends.

Please contact the Belize Audubon Society to register and for more information on the dates, cost and logistics; ask either for Ms. Dominique Lizama, the Protected Areas Manager or Ms Delia Noble, the Administrative Support.

Belize Audubon Society manages nine protected areas covering over 162,000 acres, on behalf of the people and Government of Belize. These protected areas include St. Herman's Blue Hole National Park, Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary (Jaguar Reserve), Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary (Ramsar site), Guanacaste National Park, Halfmoon Caye Natural Monument (World Heritage Site), Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve, Blue Hole Natural Monument (World Heritage Site), Victoria Peak Natural Monument and Actun Tunichil Muknal Natural Monument. www.belizeaudubon.org.

Man this looks so frigin exciting.
That part of the country is rarely visited and there is so much you never see published photos of.
