First time!! - 04/10/03 11:13 PM
We just got back from AC, our first trip..I want to thank everyone for all the wonderful tips. We had a wonderful time!! Stayed at Ramon's-Loved it and the staff, very clean and close to town. Their pool is wonderful and the beach is very clean. We ate at Blue Water Grill twice, Elvis, El Patio, BC's, Caliente..they were all wonderful. I think I am missing a few places, too many Belikins. We loved haning out at BC's, their BBQ is great. They will serve food late for those with the late night munchies. We took a snorkeling trip to the Blue Hole, well we thought it was a snorkeling trip, there were about 20 divers and 4 snorklers. This was the one and only low point of our trip. I'll make it quick. It started at 5:30 am, they picked us up at the end of Ramons pier. Did not know it was a 2 HOUR boat ride in the open ocean with huge swells. Remember..we are just snorklers. Once there it was alright, not spectacular, had a BBQ on a private Island, snorkled once again..getting tired, needed a beer. NO beer, its a diving boat. Back in the boat for the 2HOUR ride home. Headed straight for Ramon's Bar where Julio the bar tender bought us a drink. He said we looked a little tired! BUT the Blue Hole was a wonderful experience!
The next night we experienced the chicken drop. Very fun, then off to Shark's Bar. Just decided to see what it was all about. The bar was empty, there was a keyboard player and an older, rough looking man singing. He had quite the voice. I thru out a little Johnny Cash and George Jones for him to sing. It took the group a while to figure it out but eventually we did. It was Merle Haggard. After about 2 hours of music and conversation, we thanked him, bought him a round and said good-bye...off to the next bar. What a nice man!
We were sad to paradise. The people are so nice. I also found the Island to be clean. I have been to Mexico several times and this was NO Mexico! Looking forward to going back, for those going soon...tell Merle the girl next door says hello!
