Boats from BC to AC - 02/16/04 04:47 PM

Greetings, just discovered the boards. I'm arriving Feb. 28 with a group of 10 friends from Balt/DC. Some in our group aren't keen on the small plane to the Caye. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a water taxi from BC to AC. Where do you pick up a water taxi in BC and where do they drop off in AC? Any help is greatly appreciated.

put a blind fold on them and take the plane , the capt hates small planes but this is a thirteen pass plane.. not bad ,chicken that I am can understand there feeling.. ??? but in my opinion the boat is to long ,can be wet and bummpy ,crowded ..the juice is not worth the squeeze you will love it good views of the reefs and a real fourteen quick min trip .. go live the dream and enjoy

On a nice day, the water taxi can be a pleasant 75-minute trip, but if it's rainy or really windy, then not so nice. The Caye Caulker Water Taxi boats (they go to San Pedro, too, despite the name) leave roughly every hour and a half during the day from the Marine Terminal near the swing bridge. US$14 one-way. Thunderbolt also makes the trip.

Flying overall is a better option. With 10 people, you may want to take a cab (US$20 for the cab) to the municipal airstrip. You'll save about half in air fares -- US$26 per person versus around US$47 from international. E ven with the cab fares, you'll save enough for quite a number of Belikins.
