Holiday in October - 05/21/05 01:30 AM

I read somewhere that Oct 12 is a holiday in Belize... I'm there from Oct 10 and was wondering what to expect. I saw something that said celebrations were planned in Belize City, etc... but didn't say anything about AC. Is it going to be very festive, or very quiet because everything's closed?

Columbus Day. It's also a holiday (second Monday in October) in the U.S. No big deal either place.

depends on where you sit, 1492 represented not just a major turning point in world history, but the starting gun for the destruction of native cultures. Exploration was quickly superceded by settlement and exploitation. War, slavery, disease and death followed in his wake.

And on that sunny note... wink

Seriously, I'm glad to now realize that we have a person upon which to heap blame for all the contemporary evils of society. Takes a load off a few of us, no?
