We are going to be staying in San Pedro for a week in February and would like to either rent bikes for the week or purchase 3 bikes and sell them or donate them at the end of our visit. Does anyone have an idea on the best places to check?

Ozzie, another couple is doing the same as you, buying bikes. They are donating them to the Holy Cross School upon their departure to be used by the teachers or used for a fund raiser. If you need more info, please PM me.

Rental bikes are about US$25 per week for one week....buying is much more expensive. A longer rental period gets a price break.

I imagine cash donations would be accepted in lieu of actual bikes.

Ozzie: If you were staying at Xanadu the bikes are free for as long as you are there.

But if you are not , and are buying bikes for the week, Donating them when you leave is great thing.

Buying bikes new here is going to run you about $150US each bike. I would rent, that way if something goes wrong with the bike you can change it for another, then donate the cash savings to the school so they can buy much needed school supplies with it.

You may well find yourself involuntarily donating your bike.

Another question--are there any kids bikes to rent? Like a 20" or maybe 24"? What about adult with kid seats?

ozzie,
two seasons ago we purchased two beach cruisers from castillo's hardware (across from paradise villas-just north of business district) for $100 each US and resold them to local san pedranos for half price. as immissing stated, we are the couple who are doing the same this time and donating them to h c school, at his suggestion. we are staying six weeks and we do intend to purchase good locks so there are no involuntary donations, as pedro2 alluded to. good luck!
