Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/21/07 08:43 PM

Is this place still open? If so, does it still have live entertainment nightly from 7-9 pm?

Black and White bar? What kind of entertainment are you talking about? I think it lasts all night long.

Yes...it's open.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/21/07 09:02 PM

I'm talking about reggae music, what did you think? I assumed a band versus DJ.

If there's some reason that it would be best not to go there to enjoy the music, then I'd appreciate it, if you'd say that. Thanks.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/21/07 09:20 PM

? Why would there be some reason that it would be best you not go and enjoy the music? Its a great place to hear reggae and enjoy the company of local folks having a good time.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/21/07 09:50 PM

Thanks! That's what I'd hoped cuz I need my fix and Tacklebox is closed. I was starting to wonder if the "live entertainment" was strippers or something. smile

They have been known to have other "entertainment" as well. Don't think I would let it stop me though.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/22/07 10:17 PM

Good Lord you people. I just want to listen to some good tunes and maybe dance a little bit. Is there some reason that this is not a good place to go to do that?

Pedro, yer such an ass.

Go there and make your own judgement.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/22/07 10:35 PM

Jesse, I have no interest in going to a bordello or seeing a strip show. If that is the kind of place that the Black and White club is, then I just want someone to tell me that.

If it is merely a locals place that serves up great music and dancing, then I'm interested in going and checking it out for myself.

I'm not interested in any racist slurs or assumptions.

What seems to be the problem here?

The Sensemilla Band offers some great lively reggae shows, usually at Fido's on Sundays and the now closed Tackle Box other nights.

As far as Black & White, I think the only thing reggae about it, is the word "Reggae" in the name. It's not a bordello, but then Pedro seems to be in the know.

Wet Willy's is drawing a nice crowd on Friday nights as well. Nice, really enjoyable.

Yeah, Sensimilla Band is really good. The lead singer is Faya Links and he is awesome. They play Tuesday nights at Fido's at 9:00 and Captain Morgan's Tuesdays 6:00-8:30. You should check them out if you want really good reggae.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/23/07 01:32 AM

Yeah SS. I've seen Sensimilla Band several times and they're a lot of fun. I guess we'll have to miss out on the hoochies at Black & White this trip. smile

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/23/07 03:24 AM

I guess I've seen Sensimilla quite a few times too, if they were playing Tuesdays and/or Sundays at Tacklebox. smile I look forward to seeing them again.

Might still have to go to the Black & White though, just to check out the low ceiling.

Re: Black and White Reggae Bar - 10/23/07 03:48 AM

I remember the Black & White - recall it used to be near the building that was once a spa. Hole in the wall joint that played reggae, but never saw live music there. Don't remember a low ceiling. Wonder if they do the limbo - how low can you go? LOL

A Beer was $10BZ. At least it was when I discovered exactly what it was back in 2002. What live Reggae Band? Oh and the fat gal who slept on the pool table is the one who cracked the slate. <grin>

I never saw love music at the Black and White but we never miss stopping there when we visit. To me it's what a bar is supposed to be!
