Getting to villas via water taxi / villa reccs?

Getting to villas via water taxi / villa reccs? - 02/05/08 02:06 AM

Hi friends - A group of friends and myself are considering renting a villa outside of San Pedro. The two we are considering are Villa Aurora and the Blue Dolphin Belize. Blue Dolphin is 4 miles north of San Pedro and Villa Aurora is 5 miles north. Questions:

- Any recommendations for or against either villa?
- How much does it cost for a water taxi to and from each villa? and what kind of difference will the extra mile make - both time and money wise?
- How does one get a water taxi going from a villa to San Pedro - is there a phone number you call?
- Do the water taxis only run to a certain hour?

Thanks

Jess

How many people are you traveling with?

Both are very nice, If you plan on diving most the dive centers will pick you up from the dock and return you there at no charge.
Every day ecologic divers leaves Portofino's dock at 8 and comes down to town picking up divers along the way.

We are going to stay 3 1/2 miles south of San Pedro Villa Incommunicado. It's new.
The first floor sleeps 4 (2 bedrooms) and also a sleeper sofa. The second floor has
3 bedrooms (one with dble bunk single above & twin bed) and also a sleeper sofa.
You can rent the whole villa or the lower or upper level itself. Prices are not bad at all. We found it & several listings on the VRBO site. Just another idea.

Heard Blue Reef is nice but way north.

Miramar has a very nice 3-bd unit that sleeps 8 and is closer to town. The south side is nice because it still has a secluded feel but you can still get to town to eat, drink, shop, etc.

*Owner discloser* (but not this particular unit)

Miramar is awesome! Huge, well appointed villas. Easy to get to town by road so no water taxi needed. Great pool too.

Hey Jess - Let me know if you stay at Villa Aurora and what you think. Considering it for next June for my 30th anniversary.

Thanks!
