boat rental? - 08/04/08 02:02 AM

Hi Folks!

My dear husband and I will be out for a few weeks in Sept....any thought about renting a small boat while we are there? Not looking for anything fancy, just an open skiff to get us around and explore a bit....

Belize requires that you have a captains license to operate a boat. These can take a while to get, so you probably will not be able to drive the boat yourself. You might want to look into charting a small catamaran with a captain.

Okay....well that answers that! Thanks for the quick reply! We can't afford a boat with a captain....we were seriously just wanting to tool around.

I don't know of anyone that rents motor boats to tourist, the waters are a little tricky with coral heads and shallows so that it wouldn't be profitable considering the possible/likely damage to the props and lower units if you weren't familiar with the local terrain.
However lots of places rent sunfish and Kayaks that can be taken to the reef independently to snorkel.

And wave runners are available if you want to travel further faster.
