Jesse, could you please make sure all the skeeters are gone before 6/12? Thanks that would be great as I am a magnet even in the winter when they aren't bothering anyone else. lol

Yes and if they aren't gone by 6/17, please call the mozzie truck back for a few more sprays. smile

They are crazy right now anyone coming down make sure you are packing bug spray just in case.

Yeah hopefully it doesn't storm today. They sprayed about a week ago and then it poured down rain later that night...I'm not sure if that affects things or not but I would imagine it washes away most of the spray... Let's hope for no rain today and hopefully some of the skeeters disappear!!!

I wish they had a mosquito truck last week in Iguazu Falls...I was practically eaten alive down there and mozzies usually don't bother me.
Posted By: SP Daily Re: Mosquitos - 06/04/10 01:59 AM
The truck came by again just as I was coming home so I got the full treatment from about 10' away..WOW!
But I only saw about 3 mosquitos...it is working!

Lucky you! No spraying in the Boca del Rio side of town yet.

Boca del Rio must be Blue

I live up the coast where there is no spray truck. Can anyone tell me where I can buy a small electric fogger? The propane ones are so expensive to operate for a residence and inconvient too.

As a "local" about a rig they use that burns some local foliage in a coffee can. Makes smoke and the pest seem to stay away.

We used to burn coconut husk in a metal bucket...works pretty well

Don't even need the bucket. Can't tell you the number of times coffee was not interrupted am's at Ruby's with those husks.

What is the name of the fuel they use? Thanks
Posted By: windsong Re: Mosquitos - 06/04/10 03:29 AM
Thanks Jesse.

Going to try it at dusk tomorrow.

Jesse is correct coconut husks have a smell and slow burn will keep them away . try and not let the husks flame up that just burns quicker and doesn't smoke as much. You want a slow burn that smokes a lot.
I've noticed that closer to town coconuts are scarce . In my neighborhood the coconut men leave piles everywhere.
If you just want chemical weapons of mass destruction Casteo hardware has a propane burning foger that i've used in years past. expensive but gives a fog that works for hours.

All of our mosquitoes have finally died or disappeared. Phew. We can put the dogs out again at night.
Posted By: Barnacle Re: Mosquitos - 06/04/10 02:33 PM
can the dogs get something from skeeters?
only area they can reach on Scurvy is the tip of his snoot.

We just spent 15 days and it was the worst we have ever seen.

After several spraying they've pretty well all gone now. Till the next time.
