favorite restaurants in San Pedro? - 03/09/15 08:02 PM

We love seafood and will miss lobster season by a week. Let us know what favorite places you like to eat that are not too pricey. Seafood is first on our list but love food of any kind. See you in 9 days. Dawg

Waruguma's, Estel's, The Reef, Shrimp burritos from vendor in Central Park. If you give a range for "not too pricey" I"m sure you will get many more. Look at Rebecca's blog, San Pedro Scoop< to get some really good ideas:

Thanks for the quick reply. 15 U.S. or less per person? Maybe that will narrow it down. Dawg

I thought El Patio was rather pricey and the waiter insisted on being the center of attention while we were trying to get acquainted with some new friends.

Estel's for breakfast
El Fogon for lunch
Carumba's for dinner

Pirates Treasure for appetizer of Lion Fish fish cakes.

All of the suggestions above are great places. You'll find that most places in San Pedro are inexpensive for what you get.

Agree with recommendations above. Would also like to add that I had a lovely lunch at Boogies Belly. Located on a side street, between middle and back. Sweet people, cute atmosphere and good food, including fish. Their menu items were more unique than most small local places.
Also don't forget El Fogon. Their prices have gone up since the remodel, but the portions are huge. Two can easily dine on one appetizer and one main dish.

The Reef is not bad, Di Vu (formerly Wet Willey's) Ak Bol's for lunch.

I'm with klcman on this. I eat a El Patio regularly, always with great service, friendly waitstaff, good food, good prices.

I guess I got an off night. There was only one other table, party of two when we were there with a party of 8.

It isn't always super busy, which is nice for me but perhaps not so nice for them.

I believe there is a place called Neries? It serves fry Jacks and watermelon juice. Is it still open?

What are the best places for take-out? My mother usually likes lunch out and eating in at night.

I have to say I am very surprised I have not seen a mention of Black Orchid? I know they may not be in your budget but the food is amazing and the owners as well. Perhaps an afternoon appetizer and drinks might be more in the budget and I would say the cream cheese Jalapeno's are one of the main things I still crave today! Oh how I wish I were there right now smile I would also agree with the other places mentioned we tried pretty much all of them and food was very good.

So miss this place.

Hey real quick...... We wanna try some quick street food this year too. Like someone cooking tacos, burritos, fajitas in their front yard. Any do's or don'ts?

Re: favorite restaurants in San Pedro? - 03/24/15 11:52 AM

I had a great dinner at Ak Bol last week. Excellent mixed platter with empanadas, salbutes ... I could not finish it all, and for only 17 BZ. The conch fritters were delightful as well. This is a place for early diners, as they close at 8. Bartender is also waiter so fussy drinks can take a while, but he does his best and is a very sweet guy.

Also for takeout Celis does great rotisserie chickens - order in the AM, pick up later. Pair with some veggies or make nachos at home!
