I know that theres tons of things to do during the day there but what can I do for a good time at Night in San Pedro?
Posted By: Debbie Re: Nights on A.C. - 02/08/01 12:59 AM
Hmmmm..... Walk hand in hand down the beach with your loved one under a moonlit canopy???? Disco or punta dancing? Visit the local food vendors for a culinary delight? A romantic candlelight dinner at any number of places.... Night snorkeling for the adventurous.....Gambling at the casino??? A night swim in your pool with a cool drink? Rock in a hammock and hum your favorite tune.... The possiblilities are endless.....

What exactly is the Chicken Drop???
Posted By: B_b_f_b Re: Nights on A.C. - 02/09/01 12:19 AM
It's a new dance craze, everyone in Belize is doing it. You shake a lot in one place with both hands swinging in the air.

I'm just joking with ya. It's some game that's held on the beach somewhere, not sure where, but it's like chicken bingo, I think.

The chicken drop is a hoot!!! There is a fenced square with number all over it. You go into the bar and purchase a number (or numbers) When all the numbers have been sold (a dollar a ticket) then everyone crowds around the fence. The girl from the bar drops a live chicken into the pen. Lots of hooting and hollering, laughing and friendly banter. Wherever the chicken decides to "take a shit", that number is the winner!!!! Winnings were $100 when I was there! Lots of fun. You must try it! The drinks are good there too.

The chicken drop is on the beach, near Littly Italy restaurant (on Front Street or Barrier Reef Drive).

The Barefoot Iguana plays the latest dance music as well as, punta, soca, etc. I love it there. What are you after, um, I mean, as to dance and music?
Posted By: Barefoot Skinny Re: Nights on A.C. - 02/10/01 12:45 PM
Man! I thought yoo alll lived here! The Chicken Drop is at the Pier Lounge every Wed. 1$ gets a square. You could win $100! Unless you bought $99 dollars worth... Basically, if the chicken shits on your square, you clean it up and by the house a round.... Then you wonder where Barefoot Skinny is playing. (see barefootskinny.com ) tour htm

They play american or belizian music?
Posted By: Rubba Re: Nights on A.C. - 02/11/01 06:16 AM
Mac,
Iguana is a toss-up. Mostly Punta (hard to explain, but kinda like a combo between Salsa and reggae). Sometimes you will get a lil' dance-hall reggae or house. I preferred the Boatyard for dancing. The Iguana was REALLY hot this past summer.. not hot as in popular, hot as in unbearable heat. I dunno if the Boatyard survived Keith, though. If it did, check it out.

Rumor has it that the BoatYard may make a come back soon.

Well... I guess Skinny answered my BoatYard question!!!

I got a couple questions about the barefoot iguana.

Is there and age limit to get in?
What is it really like in there?
Do tehy serve drinks?
Posted By: seashell Re: Nights on A.C. - 02/14/01 10:23 AM
I believe there is an age limit but since I'm well past it, so I'm not positive. I don't recall ever seeing anyone under 18 (well, actually I did at New Years, but the kids lied about their age). It most certainly is a drinking establishment. I love the way the place is decorated. It doesn't look like much from outside, but the inside makes me think of a treehouse in the jungle canopy. I just like it there, but then I love the music and the atmosphere. Hey, you're in Belize, man! Go with the flow.

So do the A.C. teens ever hang out with american teens?
Posted By: Richard Chambers Re: Nights on A.C. - 03/24/01 07:43 PM
The drinking age is 18 in Belize, however i never saw anyone check an ID.
