Wedding Photo help - 03/31/15 11:30 AM

Hello again,

My sister will be shooting my wedding on June 19. She is an experienced travel photographer although she has never shot a wedding and I am giving her that experience. Its a beach casual wedding at Tres Cocos at Bermuda Landing. IS that a good place for pictures? If not, we are willing to go a short distance before the wedding to get some at a better place.....also, I was wondering if any of you photographers out there can recommend a timeline for shooting sunset photos on the beach. Am I correct that the sun sets at approx. 6 pm at that time of year? I am hoping I can get some advice as to timing if the wedding is at 4 or 430. Any advice/input would be greatly appreciated so that I can forward that help to her.

Thanks again for the valuable input I have receieved from all of you on this board!

Well first thing is that the sun sets in the west, and the beach on which you plan to be married is on the east side of the island. I don't think you will get any sunset photos per se unless you move the wedding venue. The sky to the east can have some marvelous reflective colors at sunset time though and having the reef in the background is wonderful.
Will leave the real photographers to give you more tips.

Most weddings on the island are from 4 - 4:30 PM, followed by photos until about 6. You'll get some nice pops of the blues & greens from the water, and maybe some nice golden lighting, but a colorful pink / red / orange sunset you might be thinking of isn't very common on the island. Checking out some of the photographer's blogs might give you a sense of what to expect.

You could always drive across the street through the end of Reef Village villas if you wanted to be facing west, less than 5 minutes by golfcart.

I don't read your post as wanting your wedding photos be the same as the sunset ones. Keeping that in mind your choice of places and times for the wedding are very good.
There are many choices for places to capture sunset pictures - and ours are beautiful but not anything like Hawaii or other south sea locations.
Our specialty is sunrise.
Some spectacular images are captured of the skies over the seas reflecting the sunsets. You will just have to be here to believe it.
Congratulations and welcome.

It doesn't happen every night, but you can absolutely get some STUNNING sunset photo's on the West/lagoon side of the island. Here's one from this year.
