I rented the first few times down there but quickly bought my own dive gear as I knew I was hooked for life. It is nice having your own snorkel, mask and regulator. You know you have maintained it and it hasn't been in anyone else's mouth. But that's just me...

OMG, you would put someone elses snorkel in your mouth???? geez, and my daughter & i are reluctant to share!
i went to target and bought a $20 set before i went. ( hubby had his own dive-shop set). then, i didn't care if i lost/ruined it there. but i didn't. now we have been using them in our pool.

we bring masks and snorkels, we have rented, but its like renting ski boots.
they are close to a fit, and can work just fine, but its more comfortable and you don't have to worry about it when its your own stuff.
we do not bring fins, or any other gear, just mask and snorkle for each person....
