We are coming to AC in January and we are wanting to do some diving. What sites do you guys recommend? Do I need to pre-book anything? Is shark-ray alley just limited to snorkling or do ppl scuba there?

You really shouldn't have to prebook but when you first arrive check out a couple of shops, see how they run their operation, how their boats look, ask a few questions. Find out how busy they are. Once you've found the operator of your choice, if they are quite busy then maybe you should book your block of dives at that time just to be sure.

If you plan on doing a bunch of diving, you should be able to get a better rate on a block of dives. You'll want to ask about that too, especially if you plan to do any of the day trips out to the Atolls. Those trips are more expensive but you can get a discount on them too if you've been doing a bunch of stuff with the same shop.

My recommendation is Amigos del Mar but there are other good operators too.

Most all of the operators will pick you up at your dock, no matter where you are staying.

A couple of things you may want think about.

Depending on the when you are comming in January.

If you plan on doing alot of diving and want the best deal then you may want to buy a dive Package. This would include lodging and diving. Otherwise you should just set it up when you arrive. In most cases Prebooking means that you will pay for the dives no matter what. You can always just walk down the beach and talk to any of the dive companies and find out what they offer and how much they charge. Don't be affraid to negotiate with them if you are doing several dives.

One factor on suggesting sites will be experience/Skill Level. The best way to do this is to come down find an operator then do a couple of dives in front of town (where most operators go) then ask about for some of the sites to the north or south of town. If you like swim throughs then there are lost of nice ones up north.

Also the Atolls offer amazing diving at Lighthouse reef and Turneffe. Most operators offer Day trips to each of these. Glovers is not available from San Pedro.

Good luck
