Bringing a Bicycle

Bringing a Bicycle - 01/08/03 05:10 PM

Im planning a trip to Ambergris Caye for a month, and thinking about bringing a bicycle with me. Im looking for some advice to help me decide if this would be a good idea or not. Some of my questions are

1. Are the airplanes to San Pedro able load disassembled bikes? Does anyone know the cost?
2. Would I be able to find someone on the island to reassemble it, or would I need to bring tools?
3. Are they safe, or do I need to bring a dozen locks?
4. Are there fees to bring it in?
5. Could I sell it there when I leave?
6. Is it worthwhile bringing a bicycle? (question for anyone having done it)

I kinda like the idea of bringing a bike to leave it to a good home. I take it you're a bike lover and appreciate having good wheels [Training wheels for BUI, you won't be the first or last].Therefore, like a SCUBA person bringing their own equipment, it may work. On the whole though, for not too much money--$200us--you'll have an adequate bike for rent with no hassles. And either way you need a lock.
