SPHS and Free Musical School to put on Belize's First Musical

Fiddler on the Roof Returns

In San Pedro's own production of Fiddler on the Roof Returns, one would be hard pressed to add more pomp to this circumstance. The village that it takes to raise a child deserves a pat on the back, because our children are stars. Hats off to the Village Town of San Pedro! More youths from the cast of Fiddler on the Roof Returns are featured next week.

Meanwhile, don't miss the first high school musical in the history of Belize. All of these youths are making history. Come one! Come all! It's free, and there is a free reception at intermission. Showtime: February 20, 2010, 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at San Pedro High School Auditorium. The community is, also, invited to our dress rehearsals, every Saturday, 10:00 A. M. to noon at San Pedro High School. This week's features are:

*Exceedingly and multi-talented, Carissa Turton, 17, is the star of San Pedro's Fiddler on the Roof Returns. She plays Golde, a matronly mother of five daughters, the oldest of whom gets married at the culmination of the story. Carissa is unquestionably a top-tier actress and songstress. She is naturally talented and should be afforded the opportunity to advance, as a performing artist, along the path of growth to greatness.

*Rick Jones, 16, cast as Tevye, is in the leading role for a man in Fiddler on the Roof Returns. He does a splendid job of acting. Overwhelmed with natural talent, Rick is a pitch perfect match for the exceedingly talented Carissa Turton as Golde, Tevye's wife.

*Cassia Collins, 16, makes a transformation into her character Yente that is magic, beyond believeable. She actually takes on the posturing, speech, mentality and aura of the old, old, yet wise Matchmaker who may look like a witch but is actually an angel of God

*Raul Kumul, 16, gives a superb performance, morphing from one character to another. Raul plays three characters - the Fiddler, Lazarus and the Rabbi. He handles each role like a pro and appears to be as close to the Trinity as they come - being three persons in one Raul. Brilliant work, Raul!

Yanni Garcia, 16, is the groom of the show. Not only is his acting magnificent, but his singing is stellar. Yanni as Mo showcases his stellar singing voice in a double take on courting his beloved Zei.

Heidy Santos, 17, is the bride of the show. What a bride she is! Like a super model, she steps into an original design, a gown by Marion that sports a sophisticated high collar top, a tapered waist and a fully flared skirt with a seven-foot train. Heidy is the perfect model and acts and sings in a leading role in Fiddler on the Roof Returns.
