New Year's Eve marks the end of Grandball season in Dangriga. It's a tradition that's been around since the early 1900s and while it's endangered now .. there are a few individuals and families, musicians and dancers who are working to keep their heritage alive. This educational video highlights the Grand Ball tradition as a form of Belize's Intangible Cultural Heritage. It forms part of a broader initiative to implement the UNESCO 2003 Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Belize. The documentary presents the history and origins of the tradition, as well as describes its current practice.
