No...this is not a viagra ad. Wondering if anyone on AC has one or two used abused and unwanted fishing poles for complete beginners. If so, do let me know.

the fishing pole is over 40. Have to assume it is a family heirloom - or a great find at a rummage sale!

Captain Sharks has very inexpensive "starter" poles. I think less than $100 bze

Thanks Amanda,

Someone also told me that he sells some second hand poles. We are going to check it out. My neighbour bought one for fifty bucks at Wings. We've had a look but we will shop around first. The neighbour managed to catch enough snapper off our dock to fry up so we fancy giving it a go ourselves.

While we are on the subject - is there a season for crab here? We see tons of blue crab everywhere. Is crabbing off piers allowed. I used to catch and eat tons of blue crab as a kid and haven't seen it served here. Thanks for your help guys.

Are the blue crabs the ones you see up on land? If they are I'm told that they are quite nasty tasting. The Garifuna are supposed to have some method of drying and preparing them to make them more palatable but even then they're pretty bad.

Thanks for the info Simon. They look like the ones we used to eat, but I'd rather not test that theory now.

It was supposed to be a silent s, a very silent non existent sort of s.
