I might be able to help you with the crock pot. Do you think I could get it through customs without paying tax?
Posted By: tacogirl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/23/07 08:17 PM
Kv when are you planning to come?

I would be willing to pay tax if it was not huge, thing is I priced crocks at 2 stores here and they were $125 and $121 bzd so If it did not work out any cheaper then I would likely buy one here.

I have a couple more shops to check there is also possibility that they will be cheaper in Belize city too.

Thanks for your offer to help will keep you posted.

Buy local and help our economy!!!
Posted By: Anonymous Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/24/07 05:05 AM
tg - how big do you want? A medium sized one costs between $15/20 us.
Posted By: belizegial Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/24/07 05:12 AM
Wow LAw, I think you should get into the business of bringing crock pots for sale to Belize. smile

They are BZ$175 here.

Posted By: KVarner Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/24/07 07:47 AM
They're going to be way cheaper coming from the states. I have one that I don't use, so we could just make a deal for that, or I could swing by walmart and pick one up for you. I am coming on Saturday. I've never brought anything through customs that required a tax to be paid on it. Do I just tell them how much its worth, and they believe me? Or do I need to show them a receipt or something?

Or if it is "my" crock pot, do I get to bring it for free?
Posted By: tacogirl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/24/07 06:49 PM

Law I was looking for a 5 quart size.

Had one in Toronto and I really wanted to bring it, but sadly did not have enough room to bring it back here. So I sold it in our big sale.

I try to buy local (and usually do) Jessie but we do budget, and while I consider this a necessity item over a luxury one, it is hard to swallow paying so much more.

Kvarner I really do not know about the tax thing. Thankfully I have never been charged in coming here. I do not usually get my bags checked.

Would you even have room for it?

Cheapest price I founds so far is $110 at wings.

did you check Joe's for Bikes? I got mine there. $110 BZ
Posted By: KVarner Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 01/24/07 09:37 PM
I would only have room for the crock pot if I checked it in my bag. I have no problem doing that, though.

Never bought a new one yet, always go to yard sales and buy the fancy ones for 5 dollars. But not here in Belize!

$55bz at WINGS, the original Crock Pot

don't you live on the island? You could go to wings.
Posted By: tacogirl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 10:31 PM
I do live on the island lol but for 5 quart crock pot is costly spl.

However the nuts were over and surprised us with one.

So crock pot off the list.

Still looking for reasonable priced bike.

I thought you lived there. I noticed no one thinks it is funny you are online and chatting all day on here but have always critized the others that move down and still spend all day on there when they get there.
Posted By: travelqueen Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 11:45 PM
Who me? I don't live there and certainly don't spend all day on the chat but you can think what you want about me. I'm not really one who cares about petty sh...

Good day to you spl! wink
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 11:46 PM
no! not you, you certainly are not on all day. I was talking to tacogirl. sorry for the confusion. I don't think I ever see you chat and are not on daily!
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 11:50 PM
oh hey thanks again for that towel!
Posted By: travelqueen Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 11:52 PM
Ah, no problem. I'm good like that. wink
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/01/07 11:55 PM
U good like that.
It is so strange that so many are on here all day long and chatting. Especially those that live on an island. Must get boring at times?
Posted By: tacogirl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 02:00 AM
Spl I am wondering on your line about criticizing people who move here and who you were referring to as doing that?

I have met some great people here from chatting on this message board. Go to any chat on the net and you will find there are regulars and occasional chatters.

When you live on a budget chatting is free fun lol
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 04:33 AM
I was not criticizing anyone. I think whatever makes an individual happy is what they should keep doing.
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 04:34 AM
I was saying that as many boarders always criticize those who do move there and are on the board so much. I was not.
Posted By: klcman Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 04:50 AM
Actually you WERE critcizing TG, you just choose to call it an observation, apparently.
Posted By: spl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 05:22 AM
no, read my first comment.

I thought you lived there. I noticed no one thinks it is funny you are online and chatting all day on here but have always critized the others that move down and still spend all day on there when they get there.

I was observing how it is funny she is online all day and no one mentions it.
Posted By: seashell Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 05:50 AM
I'm still trying to remember a time that tg made the criticism you claim.
Posted By: tacogirl Re: Crock pot and bike wanted - 02/02/07 06:14 AM
Got ya spl I was unsure so I figured I would ask.

It's all good.

I know I am a chatty girl (that was the first place I went as soon as I got a pc ha ha also where I met tacoboy)

I do a fair bit of stuff on computer for Holy cross so it is only natural for me to multi task especially when so many of the boarders are so generous in sending / bringing donations down for the school.

"I was observing how it is funny she is online all day and no one mentions it."

You are absolutley right SPL. It's not funny tho. It's a shame
A shame that she doesn't get the recognition she should.
If you ask any of the Boarders here there is probably very few who have not enjoyed speaking with her, asked her a question and received an answer, asked for assistance and received it gladly, met her and enjoyed her company. She is willing to help many many people without any payback expected .If there was ever a goodwill ambassador to an area , well visited by people from all over the world, she personifys the title.

So let me ,for one,say I'm glad she is on line all day and would be sorely missed if she were not.

TG, Got myself a new snorkel, so now ya got one of my good ones.
Will see you at Pedro's after I arrive i hope???

Oh by the way, I'm glad you on during the day...your my Island fix!
Some of us know a good person when we chat to them.
In case you see Clive, I got his Big Bob Marley flag I promised him and will leave it with you in case he ever shows up.

Last call for needed items....
