From Belmopan...
There has been some lightning activity in Belize recently, first near Monkey River, then near Belize City and I am hearing some thunder in Belmopan right now. There has been and still is some scattered rain in many parts of Belize from PG to Corozal, mainly inland from the coast. Caused by swell-ups and the high level NW cloud from Mexico, clashing with the ever wetter Caribbean winds from the east. There is very significant ITCZ activity in the Caribbean, which is getting nearer to Belize. The Monsoon activity generally moves from the east to the west, causing high level clouds to then move away eastwards, hence the typical high level we get from Mexico. This loose line has been well to the south of us, but it is moving northwards and so getting nearer to Belize. Which means bands or lines of Monsoon or ITCZ activity will, actually is now starting to move through the Caribbean. The nearest of these lines, ( Which or some strange reason they call Tropical waves. ) is now only a few hundred miles to our east. That may continue in that area of central Caribbean, or it may start to drift towards Belize, if it does that, we could have serious rain within the next few days.
Looks as if generally today will be similar to recently, but with an increased chance of rain showers anywhere.
