General Situation:
Ambergris Caye: Conditions this morning by Elbert just before or after this post!
Belize NMS: Present Condition: Partly cloudy. A broad area of low pressure will dominate our weather over the next couple of days. Advisories: None.
24-hour forecast: Sunny with a few cloudy spells today and mostly cloudy tonight. Showers or thunderstorms will be isolated, except for a few more occurring offshore this morning and then over inland areas late morning into this afternoon. Tonight, a few showers and thunderstorms are expected over most areas.

Outlook: For Thursday and Thursday night is for a similar trend in weather conditions over the country.
Tropical Weather Outlook: A broad area of low pressure is located over the Northwestern Caribbean Sea. Development, if any, will be slow to occur, and this system has a low chance of further development. At 3:00am Hurricane Lorenzo was centered near 42.3N, 29.4W or about 220mls ENE of Flores Island in the western Azores. Click for more...

The Caribbean Sea

A 1007 mb low pressure center is about 160 nm to the S of NW Cuba. Precipitation: Scattered moderate to isolated strong from the western coastal waters of Jamaica to the southern coast of Cuba. Scattered moderate to strong in clusters is in the waters that are between Cuba and Haiti and Jamaica.

A weak surface trough extends from N Colombia to south central coastal sections of the Dominican Republic. Precipitation: isolated moderate to locally strong between the Mona Passage and 76W, including in the coastal waters of Colombia.

A broad area of low pressure over the NW Caribbean will slowly move NW toward the Yucatan Peninsula through Thu. Trade winds in the east-central Caribbean will increase tonight. A tropical wave will reach the Lesser Antilles on Fri, then cross the eastern Caribbean this weekend.

MONITORING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IN THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN

The National Meteorological Services of Belize and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) hereby informs the general public that a broad area of low pressure located over the northwestern Caribbean Sea continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Any development of this system is expected to be slow to occur while it moves to the west-northwest near the Yucatan peninsula in a day or so, and over the southern Gulf of Mexico on Friday.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent.

On Ambergris Caye this morning it's cloudy with occasional showers. A breeze from the North is creating a calm sea state. Today's expected high temperature is in the upper 80's.

Various different winds over Belize this morning, causing a fair amount of rain, but out at sea, not on land. The Caribbean winds are from the NNE, but there is another wind pushing in from the west, mainly over south Belize. The High level cloud from the SW clashing, causing the rain. This activity could move in over Belize later today, not clear yet how or when.

This morning is going to be fairly sunny, but with some thin mid-level cloud, but it is all changing, so could be some rain.

Present Condition: Clouds mostly offshore and along the shore. Clear in most of the rest of the country.

Rain is now developing in the north, coming down from the north and other rain in the south, developing under a large swellup.
